Abstract

Websites have become strategic assets for organizations and businesses in the digital era, so their technical performance directly impacts user experience, conversion rates, and search engine rankings. Slow page load times caused by large file sizes, unoptimized images, and poor cache management are common issues. This study aims to identify the technical areas that most affect e-commerce website performance by leveraging GTMetrix as a measurement tool. The method used is a case study with a quantitative approach to the Zalora.co.id website. The variables observed include First Contentful Paint, Speed Index, Largest Contentful Paint, Time to Interactive, Total Blocking Time, Cumulative Layout Shift, page size, and number of HTTP requests. Measurement results show First Contentful Paint of 1.4 seconds, Speed Index of 1.9 seconds, Largest Contentful Paint of 1.9 seconds, and Time to Interactive of 4.7 seconds, all slower than GTMetrix recommendations. Total page size reached 2.09 MB with 129 HTTP requests, with image files dominating at 55.8%. Five main issues identified are slow server response time, missing explicit width and height attributes on images, inefficient cache policy, disabled text compression, and the absence of a Content Delivery Network. These findings emphasize that image optimization, accelerating server response, and cache management are the top priorities for improvement to enhance user comfort when accessing the website.
